San Francisco - F Line to Fisherman`s Wharf starts service: Saturday 4th march 2000 saw the start of the Municipal Railway`s (MUNI) regular service on the historic streetcar F line from Market and Castro, via the Downtown to Fisherman`s Wharf. The F line extension cost some USD80 million and took five years to complete. Previously the 2 1/2 -mile line, which begins at Castro and Market, ended at the Transbay Terminal. It now continues via the northern waterfront to terminate at Jones and Beach.

The line is operated by two types of historic streetcars, PCC cars of 1940`s vintage from Philadelphia and 1928 Peter Witt cars from Milan.
